Food Grade Belting

Whitaker Transmissions has been involved in the supply of hygienic conveyor and product belts to the bakery, food manufacturing and food processing industries since 1973.

All our materials conform to current legislation and carry required approval(s).

We offer belts for a wide variety of applications, such as dough moulding & cutting, pinners, dough dividers & improvers, bread slicing, compression conveyors, French stick moulders and many more.

Our food quality belts have been run successfully on numerous industrial machines, including COMAS, Kemper, Oddy, Mono and SIG and many other types of food production machinery.

We also manufacture belts for use on metal detectors such as Goring Kerr and Safeline.

PU Coated Conveyor Belting & Product Belts

Our PU coated belts are hygienic, lightweight and extremely long lasting. They are manufactured from a base fabric of 100% polyester with combinations of spun, mono-filament and multi-filament yarns. The polyurethane coating is thermoplastic and has FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) approval for handling unwrapped foodstuffs.

Whitaker Transmissions - PU Type Belt on cake making production line

These highly durable polyester fabrics with a quality grade polyurethane coating offer high resistance to flex fatigue - even on knife edge applications. Surface cracking or crazing is virtually eliminated. PU coated belts are fray resistant and provide greater resilience than PVC to a wide range of chemicals, particularly animal and vegetable oils.

Our PU coated belting is very flexible and will negotiate snub or knife edges down to 3mm in diameter.

These clean release, non-stick belts are particularly suitable for the following industries:

  • Bakery - e.g. bread, biscuits, cakes, etc.
  • Confectionary
  • Meat & Poultry
  • Cheese
  • Vegetables

PU conveyor and product belts are easily cleaned without deterioration. They are suitable for flights and sidewalls, and they can also be guide-tracked. They are usually supplied with finger-cut joints and most PU belts can have belt fasteners fitted to them.

General temperature range: -20°C to +100°C

Uncoated Conveyor Belting & Product Belts

Our uncoated conveyor and product belts comprise mainly of woven polyester yarns and provide more strength and greater stability than pure cotton webs. This type of belting is more resistant to edge fray and can be vulcanised endless.

Uncoated conveyor belts and product belts absorb less fat and grease than their cotton counterparts and are therefore much more hygienic.

We also have a range of polyester-based belts with cotton and felt top surfaces, which give a natural top surface on a strong and stable carcass.

Uncoated belts boast superb release characteristics and are ideal for dough release applications. Their increased flexibility means they are capable of operating around very small pulley diameters. They are compatible with 00 or No.1 belt fasteners and are also available with a 100% cotton surface with PVC interply.
